Latest News ![]() Milochello returns to scale with Brendon McCoull aboard after Elwick win 10 August 2009 LIGHTLY raced five-year-old Milochello earned an interstate trip following his outstanding win in the 100 Collins 0-75 Handicap over 1600 metres at Elwick on Sunday. The Jason Clifford-trained gelding came from last on the home turn to score a runaway win over Atcos Quest and the heavily backed Brave Mukky on what was an extremely heavy racing surface at Tattersall's Park. It was Milochello's third win in succession leaving Clifford brimming with confidence about an impending interstate sojourn. "The horse loves the heavy tracks so now is the time to head to Melbourne," Clifford said. "I've said all along that Milo is a potential weight-fort-age horse and while he still has a bit to do to get to that stage I'm confident we can take him across the water and get a result if we go while he's in this sort of form on heavy ground." "There's a 0-82 handicap at Sandown on September 2 that looks like an ideal option, so I'll have his bloods done this week and if they come back as good as I expect then we'll head to Melbourne," he said. Clifford also will take his stable star Loaded Owners and prepare him for a first-up tilt in a 0-82 handicap over 1200m late next moth. "If we take Milochello then Loaded Owners will go too because there are more optio0njs open to us over there (Victoria)," Clifford said. Clifford has earmarked the Newmarket Handicap in late November at Mowbray as one of Loaded Owners' main targets in Tasmania this season. |
