Growl to attempt Cup double

HOBART Cup winner Growl will try to emulate the Peter Moody-trained Zaciello that is the last horse to complete the AAMI Hobart-Launceston Cup double.

Growl is one of 20 nominated for the Group 3 AAMI Launceston Cup to be run over 2400 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on February 24.

Also amongst the nominations are last Monday's Hobart Cup minor placegetters De Fine Lago (second) from the Tony Vasil stable and locally owned and trained Dream Pedlar (third) prepared at Longford by Troy Blacker.

The Robert Smerdon-trained Rathsallagh is nominated for the Launceston Cup despite the mare finishing a distant last in the Hobart Cup in which she started the favourite.
